This proven effective reading instructional program is the flagship program of Process Learning Tutoring.  It has been piloted in school districts nationwide as our other instructional programs.  Since reading is the core of any other subject area, it is the most important program.  Students must be able to read, comprehend, and apply skills and concepts in reading, writing, grammar, math (especially, interpreting word problems), and in the content areas of science, history, and social studies.  Reading, of course, is necessary to survive in other life's areas of jobs, own children's school aid, and in every day life skills.

Accuracy and comprehension are stressed throughout this program.
Sight Word Recognition will be emphasized for Beginner Readers utilizing proven effective multi-sensory processes and controlled-vocabulary readers.
The EdVantage Five-Step Multi-Sensory Phonetic Process will be taught for decoding and spelling words in all subject areas.  This process can be used by all levels  of students for their entire academic lives!
Students will be taught The EdVantage Retelling Process verbally and in writing for enhancing comprehension at any grade level.

Upon completion of The Reading EdVantage, students will be able to answer, WITHOUT GUESSING, complex reading questions, relating to:  Vocabulary Meanings, Main Idea, Facts/Details, Sequence of Events, Cause and Effect, Inferences, Predicting Outcomes, Drawing Conclusions, and Summarizing. This will be accomplished by students mastering The EdVantage Six-Step Reading Comprehension Process in conjunction with the proven effective "secret codes".
Students who have experienced The Reading EdVantage are among the most motivated readers in their classes.

Logical thinking skills assist students in understanding detailed passages and new vocabulary in context.

Active participation, along with direct & guided - teaching, ensure that students are able to understand what they read and are able to apply the material in practical terms.

Through the introduction of associative processes, students are taught how to apply their own life experiences to new words, new books, and new ideas.

The Reading EdVantage combines the best of several approaches, including sight word reading, phonics, structural and contextual analysis, Language Experience Approach, Back-To-Basics Approach, Whole Language Approach,Inter-Disciplinary Approach, a Literary Approach,and Diagnostic-Prescriptive Approach.  This eclectic philosophy allows students to quickly master difficult reading assignments. 

Multi-Sensory Techniques  teach students to use different modes of learning to master skills faster and more effectively for individual long-term mastery.

Documentation and Accountability will always be consistently implemented. Reading Journals will document your,child's progression in The EdVantage Six-Step Comprehension Process, which utilizes all proven "secret codes" for all of the different types of comprehension questions of main idea, sequence of events, details, inferences, drawing conclusions, predicting outcome, fact/opinion, cause and effect, summarizing, generalizing, author's purpose, tone, and mood.  These reading journals will also document The EdVantage Short-Response Process involving answering in complete, detailed sentences, as well as The EdVantage Chapter Summary Process which aids in writing Book Reports.   

Positive self-esteem is the end product of this reading program.
