Process Learning Tutoring Center believes in a Diagnostic-Prescriptive Philosophy whereby students' strengths, borderline strengths, and weaknesses are analyzed extensively to diagnose specific skill gaps that are causing the students to struggle. From the diagnostic evaluations, individualized academic prescriptions are designed to remediate and correct all skill gaps.
Process Learning Tutoring Center implements a Process-Teaching/Process-Learning Approach in all instructional programs. We believe that teaching involves Step-By-Step processes that can be mastered by the student.
Process Learning Tutoring Center believes that struggling students can become super students with proven effective instruction. "Barring a neurological diagnosis, such as Down's Syndrome, - not just a "learning disability" - every student can and should be able to perform on and above the appropriate grade level in reading, writing, spelling, and math with no exceptions. Anything less does a grave disservice to the student.
Process Learning Tutoring Center believes that students can achieve high expectations and positive self-esteem when they experience success.
Process Learning Tutoring Center believes that teacher accountability must be expected before student accountability. Students cannot be expected to show mastery of skills and concepts if the teacher has not effectively taught and reinforced them.
Process Learning Tutoring Center believes that documentation of what is actually being taught is the key to true accountability. All of our tutorial sessions are all very well documented.
Process Learning Tutoring Center believes in direct and guided-teaching, not just plugging students into worksheets or a computer. Active Participation is the key to academic success.
Process Learning Tutoring Center utilizes the proven effective factor of Process-Oriented- not product. We believe in teaching your child the Step-by-Step processes as tools for their entire academic lives and future - not the product of an answer or just for passing a test.
Process Learning Tutoring Center believes in "Learning by doing" by modeling teacher instruction until the effective degree of reinforcement has been achieved for students to demonstrate a high degree of individual long-term mastery of skills and concepts.
Process Learning Tutoring Center believes in Multi-Sensory Processes that incorporate all learning modes of visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile.
Process Learning Tutoring Center believes in a proven effective, inter-disciplinary curriculum that correlates reading, spelling/phonics, grammar, composition/essay writings to all other subjects of math (especially word problems), science, social studies, history, and civics. Students need to be able to read, write, spell, and edit all concepts and skills being taught in all subjects.
Process Learning Tutoring Center believes that "Learning can be fun," whereby the use of worksheets are kept to a minimum and replaced with motivated, fun, sensory, and varied activities.
Process Learning Tutoring Center believes implementing association processes that aid students in transferring the mastery of a skill/concept to a skill/concept that has not been mastered.
Process Learning Tutoring Center believes in utilizing retention aids, called "secret codes", for aiding in the short-term and long-term mastery of all skills and concepts.
Process Learning Tutoring Center believes in optional homework that will aid the student to progress at a faster pace. Homework is explained thoroughly with step-by-step examples. It is our belief that homework should never be graded, so a student can "Learn from his/her own mistakes." All homework should always be discussed with the students-not just having the teacher call out the answers.
